KARA BARNETT

 

Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Kara Barnett brings to the table over 15 years of experience in unscripted casting, development, brand/ product integration, editing and content production for both broadcast television and digital / social platforms etc. 

 

Kara’s career launched in Los Angeles in the field of casting and development with a 7 season run with the hit series “America’s Next Top Model”. She soon transitioned from her initial casting assistant position and rose through the ranks on productions for various television networks to the Supervising Producer level. In her trajectory, her body of work has expanded to include projects for MTV, VH1, BET, E! Entertainment Television, Lifetime, TLC, , Oxygen, and OWN.

 

Kara made the decision to further develop her skills in the digital and social space in 2017 when she moved to NYC to join BET’s Digital Editorial team as a Lead Producer, helping to create a social editorial presence for BET at key events such as the Colin Kaepernick Rally at the NFL Headquarters, The Tribeca Film Festival, red carpets at the BET Awards, Black Girls Rock, the Soul Train Awards and several other music and cultural events throughout the Black community. Kara was promoted to the BET Linear Social Team as the Senior Producer of Branded Content to create branded sponsor social executions such as her in-home interview with the legendary Diahann Carroll for Black History Month as well as original franchise opportunities such as the network’s first visual podcast, “I’ll Apologize Later”.  

 

In 2018, Kara joined the Brand Creative team of BET Networks, on the linear side, as Senior Writer/ Producer, where she has conceptualized and produced many promo marketing campaigns for Lena Waithe’s hit series Boomerang, the 2019 Bet Awards, the timely social justice series Copwatch and the most recent year-long celebrity based campaign for the BET Network’s 40th Anniversary.

 

Kara also invests time in passion projects for her own boutique production company 25Eight Productions. Kara served as Executive Producer and Lead Creative of the recent short film, HIGH RISK, highlighting the statistical and testimonial truths of the minority pregnancy experience in America as well as the digital short series, HOMEGROWN, featuring interviews of Caribbean and Caribbean-American individuals.

 

Kara Barnett has many mantras that she lives by but her favorite, as a creator,  is: “Be a voice, not an echo.”

JEANINE BARNETT SILBERBLATT

 

Jeanine Silberblatt is the business lead of 25Eight Productions, overseeing all aspects of advancing original content from concept to distribution. 

 

Jeanine is a reputed business leader, strategist, board member who has cultivated an extensive background in product launches, brand management, fashion, finance and retail tech throughout her 20-year career. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, she is also passionate about and committed to creative projects that expand the narrative of Caribbean/Caribbean-American individuals and modernize how those stories are told. 

 

After spending 5 years on Wall Street, she began her retail career with Yves Saint Laurent Accessories in New York. Jeanine later moved to San Francisco to be the Brand Launch Manager for the Kardashian Kollection, a 700 shop collaboration between Sears Holdings, and the celebrity sisters. She later became a Buyer and Director at the national retailer, managing businesses worth up to $60M for brands such as Levi, Everlast and French Connection as well as major license deals featuring entertainment properties including DC Comics, Marvel & Disney. After a stint at the Los Angeles-based eco-fashion apparel start-up Reformation, Jeanine served as the VP, General Manager of Merchandising & Brand Partnerships for Stockwell, a Silicon Valley-backed, AI-vending startup, where she drove product and content strategies, partnering with industry leaders such as P&G, Kellogg’s, Sephora, and Clif Bar. In 2020, Stockwell was acquired by 365 Retail Markets. 

 

Jeanine is also an active member of the Board of Directors of the Fashion Incubator of San Francisco, where she is dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission of supporting emerging designers and serving as a catalyst for the fashion industry’s economic growth in the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

Jeanine earned her MBA from Harvard Business School and her degree in Finance and Banking from Delaware State University.

 

As an Executive Producer for 25Eight's projects Exposed: Vashtie Kola (2011) and Nia Long; (2012), Glambition (2013) and Homegrown (2020), Jeanine continues to utilize her knowledge and experience to drive 25Eight Productions toward success.
